After raising our family in South Carolina, my husband and I, both A.S.U. grads, returned to Boone to live full time. We love tailgating and attending Mountaineer football games, hiking around the Blue Ridge Parkway, and breathing in the mountain air.
I earned a degree in Marketing from Appalachian State University. Full of ambition, I began my career at Long, Haymes & Carr Advertising and spent almost ten years designing marketing and media plans for clients including Hanes Underwear, Wachovia Bank, Holly Farms Chicken, and the local McDonald's co-op.
I left the ad agency to work for A.C. Nielsen, where I analyzed consumer data and presented marketing recommendations for clients such as Lance Crackers, Pictsweet Vegetables, Slim Jim Meat Snacks, and several others.
Leaving "Corporate America," I opened and operated a small coffeeshop in Lake Wylie, SC. I developed the marketing program, managed the bookkeeping (including payroll and taxes), and worked in the shop as a barista extraordinaire! I developed a love and respect for small business, and wanted to share my knowledge and skills to make other small businesses successful.
We sold our profitable coffee shop in 2007, and I began a career in small business marketing. I developed skills in website design and internet marketing, and have used these skills to serve clients in the real estate and development industry, service industries, and retail.
Writing and photography began as a hobby, and grew into a business as opportunities arose. As a freelance writer and photographer, I've written for local magazines and online media. I've photographed hundreds of properties, ranging from rustic cabins to luxury homes, for real estate agents in the Lake Wylie, SC and Boone, NC area.
